2019 Goalkeepers Report
Graphicacy was selected to be a strategic and data visualization partner to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation team in the creation of their marquee annual report.
The Graphicacy team worked closely and iteratively over five months with the Goalkeepers team and their digital agency on a robust discovery process, data analysis and sketching, design, and development. The result of our combined efforts was an illuminating series of visualizations showing the relationship of geography, gender and other key variables to inequality around the world.
The 2019 Goalkeepers Report was released by Bill and Melinda Gates at their annual event in New York City as world leaders gathered for the UN General Assembly.
The image above, part of a portfolio of conceptual illustrations created in tandem with team member Catherine Madden, and the animated scatter plot below allow users to quickly digest heavy and complex data sets in a way that is engaging, informative, and easy to scan.
The report website is a single, scrolling page with a crisp, magazine-style layout. As users scroll through the report, the text and data on the left column of the page correspond to adjoining visualizations and infographics on the right column of the page. The visual data amplifies and enhances what the text is describing. The result is a multi-faceted, information-rich global report that is easy to navigate, vibrant, and informative.
