Data Visualization Designer

Graphicacy is looking for a Data Visualization Designer to join our team.

 

About the role:

  • Work with Graphicacy’s clients to design interactive and static data visualizations, online applications and information graphics.
  • Provide thought leadership on data visualization best practices and next-generation digital trends and an understanding of innovative data visualization practices.
  • Work with clients and project managers to create graphic designs for a variety of online applications.
  • Work with web developers to review and refine interactive data visualizations.
  • Must have a high level of proficiency using Excel, R, and Tableau or equivalent application(s).
  • Create high-fidelity mockups for vetting and user testing
  • Determine appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions, and make relevant recommendations to clients.
  • Proficiency with Adobe products and strong skills in Sketch, Invision, Zeplin or equivalent applications.

About you:

  • Two to three years of related data visualization experience.
  • Understanding of statistics and data analytics.
  • Bachelor’s in (Information, Graphic, Visual, UX, Web) Design and/or related field(s), or significant equivalent experience.
  • A strong visual design and technical portfolio.
  • A passion to innovate and create work that pushes the boundaries of data visualization and graphic design.
  • An understanding of visualization libraries like D3.
  • Knowledge of browser compatibility across multiple platforms and devices.
  • Strong ability to design with accessibility in mind.
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum development process.
  • Creative ideas with problem solving mindset.
  • Be open to receiving objective criticism and improving upon it.

Bonus points:

  • Experience in digital journalism.
  • Familiarity with multiple HTML frameworks, strong JavaScript & jQuery skills (such as consuming APIs).
  • Knowledge of Drupal and WordPress CMS frameworks.

Graphicacy is looking for a Software Developer to join our team.

  • Contribute to a small team’s ability to deliver technical solutions for client work.
  • Ensuring code and systems are developed with appropriate levels of quality.
  • Configuring software and infrastructure to support deployment of implemented projects.
  • Designing and implementing subsystems of the software architecture.
  • Implementing automation to support builds, deployments and code quality checks.

  • You have been a Software Developer in the industry.

Web Designer

Graphicacy is looking for a Web Designer to join our team.

 

About the role:

  • Work with clients and project managers to build and refine graphic designs for websites. Must have strong skills in Photoshop, Sketch, Invision, Adobe XD, Zeplin or equivalent application(s).
  • Convert raw images and layouts into CSS/HTML5 themes.
  • Determine appropriate architecture, and other technical solutions, and make relevant recommendations to clients.
  • Develop and maintain robust Web style guides for all our consumer and business-facing products.
  • Provide thought leadership on Web design best practices and next-generation digital trends.
  • Create high-fidelity wireframes and mock-ups for vetting and user testing, and final assets for development.
  • Assist in the development of a new brand and how to convey it cohesively across multiple Web properties.
  • Create site layout/user interface by using standard HTML5/CSS/PHP/JavaScript practices

About you:

  • Bachelor’s, or significant equivalent experience, in web design and/or computer science.
  • Three years minimum experience with HTML/HTML5 and CSS.
  • A strong visual design and technical portfolio.

UX Designer

Graphicacy is looking for a UX Designer to join our team.

 

About the role:

  • Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Facilitate the client’s product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

About you:

  • Three or more years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments.
  • Expertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
  • Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
  • Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
  • Be excited about collaborating and communicating closely with teams and other stakeholders via a distributed model, to regularly deliver design solutions for approval.

Graphicacy is looking for a design intern to join us this summer to help create data-rich/interactive visual experiences via online information graphics, tools, microsites, dashboards, and motion graphic videos.

Exceptional candidates will have the potential to become full time members of our growing team. We are seeking individuals who are interested in, qualified for, and excited by this possibility.

Required:

– Experience with and/or training in UX/UI design principles and visual (graphic) design
– A working facility with the Adobe Creative Suite
– Knowledge of and/or a desire to learn wireframing and presentation tools like Sketch and InVision
– An interest in building beautiful and useful interactive data visualizations
– An active and wide-ranging curiosity and desire to learn new things paired with the ability to work collaboratively, respond effectively to feedback, and keep to deadlines
– A basic understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript

Bonus points:

– Experience with user research and testing, prototyping
– Experience with social media and/or marketing
– Experience with analytics
